The podcast is jpay Moms House. The podcast, which has become well known for their non-pc humor, has recently been talking a lot about Idaho inmates. Inmates in the Idaho Department of Corrections system can post a video message to their JPay account.

JPay is a service that allows people on the outside to communicate, leave messages, and even add money to an inmates account. An account on Instagram titled Idahoinmatepenpal then shares the videos.
The Instagram account has racked up more thanfollowers, including the famous singer Lana Del Rey among dating agencies. Your Moms House crew found the account and has been featuring some of the videos shared to it on their podcast. The segment often involves their guest first watching the video, then guessing why the individual is incarcerated. Many of the videos look more like a dating website bio then a request for a penpal.
The phenomenon of people, often women, communicating with men who are incarcerated is not new. Notorious serial killer, rapist, and necrophiliac Ted Bundy famously got married while in prison, proposing to his girlfriend while in the penalty phase of his trial.
Meet an Inmate
A spokesperson for IDOC clarified that inmates do not have direct access to the internet and can only send videos to individuals through JPay. The individuals who receive those videos then post them to sites like TikTok and Instagram. IDOC does not have any control over what people who are not incarcerated do with the videos or jpay once it leaves the jail, but they do warn that requests for money, photos, and personal information should be considered warning signs dating one party dating seeking to exploit the other.
